Good evening to the probably <4 people who might read this!
Here’s a quick update on Buffer Overflow: It’s finished. I just wrote “The End” an hour or two ago, and all it needs is a light editing pass to weed out bad grammar and any obvious screw ups, and I’ll be posting it in one big post here. It’s 52k words long, so that whole “short story” thing is out the window.
I don’t even know if I can make a 52k word post, but we’ll see.
Further update:
I need more editing. On review, some of the dialog is a little stiff, and there’s a few times that I didn’t make the characters’ actions clear enough. Also, just combining the parts I’ve published individually so far is enough to slow the backend to a crawl. I doubt I’m going to be able to get the whole story in one post without crashing anything, and I’m not eager to try.
So I’m going to take a run through the story and edit it, and then I’ll be reflecting on how best to get it online. I’ve got some ideas for a book cover, which I might do before I upload the story. I’ve got a song I’ve been working on that’s inspired by this story, that I hope will help set the mood for anyone who happens to read it. I’m still working on that, too. Maybe I’ll get that uploaded before the story as well.
Most likely, the story will be ready before anything else. I could make a PDF or an epub and post it here. Or I could just post the rest of the chapters as individual posts. That would make reading easier too, as well.
