An exosolar sapient species, classified as Exoarachnida Aradnea Sapiens. Their bodies are horizontally oriented, about 2 meters long and 1.25 meters tall. They have 8 limbs attached to hourglass-shaped torsos, the front 4 of which end in manipulating digits. They are mammals, and females breastfeed their young, who are born live, usually individually, but very rarely in broods of up to 8. Their mammary glands are noted for being remarkably similar to human mammaries in shape. They have six eyes, horizontally-slit mouths and skulls whose upper portions are not too dissimilar from human skulls, with single articulated jaws behind their pedipalps. Their skin tends to be more gray and brown than humanities. Their skeletons are semi-exoskeletons that encase their internal organs and the majority of their musculature, but they have skin and fat and some musculature on the outside.
Psychologically, they are remarkably similar to humanity. Countless human institutions have parallels in Aradnean history and cultures, ranging from racism to advertising to celebrities.
Aradneans developed warp drive a century before humanity, and their recorded history is many thousands of years longer. A nuclear war during the 1st century CE destroyed much of their progress and set them back significantly. One result of this is a widespread cultural preference for diplomacy and peace. They are comprised of multiple subspecies, mostly genetically engineered in the same manner as Terran subspecies. They are organized into 206 nations and a highly variable number of non-national groups.
