Smart Metal

A form of nanites that has no capabilities beyond forming specific shapes and locking into place by forming atomic bonds, which can be released or created on command. The locked shapes are stronger than forged steel, with similar properties. They are actually composed of ceramic-metallic alloys, arranged into simple positional circuits, and are not pure metal. They have no computational ability, and rely on a controller to form shapes and harden.
